Hanging up the phone is soo last century.Almost all of us have gotten telemarketing calls one way or another. While the minority tries to be nice to this random callers that offers fake incentives and prizes, the majority are rather skeptic and would rudely hangs up to such callers. I am part of the majority; it annoys me that every time i wait for an important call, telemarketers disrupt my peaceful zen and pretty much waste a valuable time that i could've use gossiping with a friend over the phone--which, believe me is way important than getting warmed up from a UK Lottery Prize, a dude with a phony english accent asking you to give him your credit card number.
I dread the idea of these people believing we are bunch of naivette citizens that would fall for their professional smuggling, or should i say, professional crank calling. But do WE really wanna hang up every time these telemarketer calls? Hanging up is the easy way out though if anyone of you wanna get even and have fun with it, here are some ways to completely throw some of these people off:
1. Try to ask them questions like how's their day going, do they know Jose--randomly talk to them without giving much attention to what they're saying. Be friendly, really, absofuckinlutely friendly until they hang up themselves. If not, ask them if they're from India (cly_de's idea LOL). That would piss 'em off.
2. IF and only if, they tell you, your family have won a million dollar in cash, a BMW car or something so unbelievably stupid, act like you're so happy to hear the good news, happily scream for say, 10 minutes or so then confront 'em right away that you're a lawyer and will sue them for fraud...for being a scumbag--for almost giving you a heart attack. OR Just say "Are you kidding me!? DO you really think i'd fall for this!? DO you!?" and that would scare 'em away for a good 5 years then they'd call again.
3. If he asks if the number he dialed is the right one, tell him no that its: a pizza chain/the office of admissions of the university of the undecided/or be completely sarcastic and ask back "Is it?" and surely, he'll hang up and possibly tell you to get yourself some good manners.
Note: The enumerated ideas above hasn't been tested in real life. BUT pls feel free to use any of it. Just don't blame me if something offly wrong happens. :-)
